Friday's Fab Five...

Even though my wedding has come and gone, I still cannot help myself to look at new themes, cakes, flowers etc. I decided that Friday can be a grouping of my favorite things I have discovered over the week. This week will be centered around...WEDDINGS!! But next week could be cupcakes :).
Yesterday as I was posting about flats, I came across the most adorable wedding sandals I have ever seen!! Sometimes I wish to convince my husband to marry me every year and my life could be planning a new wedding for us every year :). For some that may sound horrid!! But weddings just make me happy and why not enjoy a new dress or a new pair of shoes!

These seem just perfect for a beach or summer wedding! Not to mention a shoe to change into for when you are tired of dancing in your heels. These shoes are by Kate Spade and can be purchased here http://www.katespade.com/designer-shoes/womens-flats/kate-spade-fella-1/S143811I,default,pd.html?dwvar_S143811I_color=101&start=20&cgid=shoes

What a great way to show off your cake than by putting it on a bark/tree cake stand!! This is perfect for an outdoor wedding! Or to give an indoor wedding a more earthy feel. It really makes the cake pop and becomes and even more eye pleasing focal point.

Trying to pick your wedding favors is a very difficult thing! You also do not want to spend money on something that will just collect dust, get thrown out, or go to waste. Now don't these favors look delicious?! And if you are stuck with leftovers ;) it is no big deal. This is a great idea to link in the location of your wedding. These are caramel apples from New York. For more great ideas (such as maple sugar candies from Vermont and lobster lollipops from Maine) click the link.

A lemonade stand is the perfect way to welcome guests to your wedding! And not to mention a delicious beverage to enjoy. It gives everyone a wonderful memory of childhood and who doesn't like lemonade?

OMGlitter! These are just the cutest decorations! Perfect for the reception, an after party, hanging on your car or a welcome home to your new married life together :). I am absolutely in love with these and desperately trying to think of a reason for purchasing for myself! Any ideas are welcome :).

On another note, TODAY IS FRIDAY! Go enjoy yourself!

Love...for Flats...

Even though we are still in the season of winter?? (I only question because we have yet to see snow...knock on wood), all the spring catalogs have been arriving at my home. This just gets me sooooo excited by the idea of flowers, sunshine, skirts and shoes. I could not help but notice an abundance of adorable flats!! I cannot decide which to buy first! From boatshoes to Oxfords and beyond. Here are a few that I cannot wait to wear and will be staples in my Spring ensemble.

http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shoes/sperry/PRDOVR~37181/37181.jsp

These were the first flats to spark my eye!! One, I love JCrew; two, I love Sperry's; three, I love pink! You can imagine my joy when these hit the market and I cannot wait to hit the pavement wearing these beauties!

http://www.jcrew.com/womens_special_sizes/size512shoes/size5/PRDOVR~28699/28699.jsp

These flats are soooo comfortable and are absolutely stunning. I actually bought them last summer in turquoise and cannot wait to buy them in sanddune. They are so versatile and make any outfit look polished.

If you were slow to get on the Toms bandwagon like I was, then you do not know what you are missing. This past fall I purchased them in navy and now cannot wait to get another, more flashy pair. The great thing about Toms is their comfort. I really fell in love with the silver glitter and think it will give every outfit with jeans just that extra little edge that ends with "Tah Dah!"

Okay, that is a shockingly long website! I swear it is safe and leads you directly to an amazing pair of flats! I love the detailing on these shoes and they are also offered in turquoise :). These are a great way to wear an adorable dress and still have your feet just as fancy!!

Oh for the love of Oxfords! I cannot even begin to start explaining when/where I fell in love with these cuties, but it could have something to do with the turquoise sole :). If you have yet to purchase a pair of Oxfords, then the wait shall be over. Oxfords are a perfect blend of girly cute and sophistication. The outfit pairings with these are endless!!

I hope you find this useful in your hunt to complete your spring wardrobe :)!

HAPPY SHOPPING!!

Complete the Look...

Now that we have the bridesmaid dresses, we need SHOES and ACCESSORIES!!! :)

When deciding the shoes for your bridesmaids you can:

A) Let everyone wear whichever shoe they please.
B) Pick a color and have everyone find their own shoe in that color scheme.
C) Find a fabulous shoe and have each of your lovely ladies purchase the shoes.

I opted for option C!! If you also opt for C, then keep a budget in mind. Are all of your bridesmaids employed? A teacher may not want to spend $800 on those fabulous Louboutins you have picked out!!

It is important to think about the terrain of the location. My wedding took place in the Catskill mountains. Walking in stilettos across fields just did not seem like the wisest option. I knew I was looking for a flat but beautiful sandal. I started my hunt at the end of summer before I got married, which worked out perfectly because I found an awesome pair of sandals and they were on sale.

The bridesmaids shoes are:

These are Madden Girl by Steve Madden.

Next we need some accessories. I love statement pieces of jewelry and I really wanted something that popped, but I still wanted an outdoor natural look to my wedding. I also wanted something that went with the silver of the shoes. When I saw these earrings, I just knew they were perfect. I decided to purchase these for all of my fabulous ladies as part of their bridesmaid gifts.

The earring they wore are:

These earrings are made by Anthropologie.

And because it was meant to be...as I was searching for earrings, I ran into these adorable purses! I also purchased these as part of my gift to all my lady loves :). The flower went perfectly with the earrings and the green was the perfect accent to match the wedding colors.

Here is the purse:

This purse is also from Anthropologie. (It came in purple, green and yellow).

And here you can see...THE COMPLETE LOOK :)

Happy Accessorizing!! :)

To Dress a Bridesmaid...

Picking your bridesmaids dresses is a very difficult process. Especially if your bridesmaids are very opinionated (I love you all!!!). While it is very important to listen to your friends ideas and concerns, in the end it is best to go with your own personal favorite. Please keep in mind that the dress should flatter all of your bridesmaids and everyone should feel beautiful and comfortable in their dress.

A big concern my bridesmaids had been strapless versus straps. Luckily, the dresses I ended up picking had removable straps. After everyone had their initial fitting it was a group decision for everyone to go strapless for the wedding and photos and then have the option to add-on their straps later in the evening. This seemed to work for everyone. So if you are going strapless, an option to add straps later in the evening is an ingenious idea!!

After my colors were picked, my hunt for the perfect dress began. Here are a few of the options that were in consideration; that is until I found the "one."

This dress is by BCBG Max Azria, Layered Cocktail Dress

Both of these dresses are from David's Bridal, and both were considered in pink options.

This dress is by Melissa Sweet

This dress is from JCrew, and comes in a variety of colors.

The dress I ended up choosing for my bridesmaids is:

This dress is by Watters and can be found here http://watters.com/Product/WattersWatters/7594#Colors:peony
The color my bridesmaids are wearing is called "peony" and the style number is 7594. I do not feel the website gives an accurate portrayal of the color, but you can see it on my bridesmaids below :).

(Photo taken by Click. Photography)

One of the best things a bride can see after her wedding, is a bridesmaid wearing their dress again at another event! I was so beyond thrilled when these photos were spotted on facebook :)...Love you Lindsay!!

THAT IS WHAT I CALL DRESS SUCCESS!!! :)

HAPPY HUNTING!!!

A Wedding Color Wheel...

It is 2012!!! Have you picked the colors for your wedding yet? :)Deciding the colors for your wedding is a big and important task. It effects everything from your invitations to your cake, from your decor to your bridesmaids dresses. A few important things to keep in mind when picking your colors are:
  • your location (brown and orange on the beach is probably not the best choice)
  • your favorite colors (you are the star, your wedding should make you happy)
  • your bridesmaids (you want everyone to look their best)
  • the feel of your wedding (your colors should reflect the mood)
Some wonderul color combinations are:

Blue and Yellow

Red and Orange

Navy Blue and Green

Peach, Coral, Poppy

Purple and Yellow

And if you are feeling very creative and fun, you can try

RAINBOW!!!

For my wedding, the colors I chose were pink and green. The photo I found and used as my inspire was:

Pink and Green <3

And here is how my inspiration came to life :)

Some great wedding color ideas can be found here: http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-colors.aspx

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and is enjoying life in 2012!!!
